• Alpha White Pointer Bi-Metal Holesaws

Article

Alpha has spent the last 2 years developing the White Pointer Holesaws into the class-leading product they are today. Our Product Development department has rigorously tested many samples from around the world along with and also all major competitors, to produce the best value holesaw currently available on the Australian market. The Alpha White Pointer Holesaws, have many class-leading features and benefits:

  • HSS Bi-Metal Construction

All Alpha holesaws feature a solid HSS body, with a precision, welded M42 Cobalt Bi-Metal strip for the cutting teeth.

  • Shark Gill Slug Removal Slots

Alpha White Pointer Holesaws feature a very unique angled slot design, that allows easy plug removal of different thicknesses of material with a standard screwdriver. The integrity of the holesaw HSS wall is critical to the lifetime and ability of the saw to cut a round hole. We have worked through many prototypes to get the best balance between large easy to use slots, and still maintaining a rigid wall strength.

  • Unique Shark Tooth Grinding

Alpha holesaws feature a unique grinding on the teeth which produce a sharper, faster-cutting tooth and aid fast clearing of the gullets. Many hours of testing and drilling literally thousands of holes has helped us refine the tooth grind for the ultimate combination of sharpness, speed, resilience and ease of use in all common materials.

Using the Holesaws

It is always important to stress the need to run any holesaw as close as possible to it’s recommended cutting speed. Cordless drills tend to be hard to control to an exact speed, and many users simply pull the trigger and get drilling – however, this can lead to a poor user experience, where the drill may clog up, burn out, lose teeth etc. All Alpha White Pointer Holesaws have the recommended drilling speeds for common materials printed on the packaging.

Sheffield Group Product Testing

Alpha White Pointer Holesaws have been thoroughly tested in various materials to ensure they perform flawlessly in all trade applications. Various test procedures were used to determine the durability and life expectancy of the holesaws and the quality of the finished cut.

1mm Bondeck®

Bondeck® is a hard material to drill, the different contours can slow the holesaw down and catch. This puts extreme pressure on the teeth and very quickly shows the quality of a holesaw. The Alpha White Pointer outperformed 5/6 competitors, with the winner only just in front.

304 Stainless Steel | 1mm Sheet

Stainless steel is a difficult material to drill with a holesaw, drilling is slow and must be done at low speed to avoid damaging the teeth. The Alpha White Pointer outperformed all 6 competitors in this material.

Framing Pine 70 x 35mm | 3.75mm Gal nails

Framing pine is normally an easy material to drill with a holesaw, a single 3.75mm nail was added to every hole to replicate real-life applications. The Alpha White Pointer outperformed all 6 competitors by a huge margin.

Galvanised steel stud 0.5BMT

Steel stud is a commonly drilled material with holesaws. Being a thin material and often drilled at higher than recommended speeds it can destroy a holesaw quickly. Alpha White Pointer outperformed 5/6 competitors in the material.

Aluminium tube 3.6mm wall

Aluminium is a commonly drilled material, and although it is relatively soft, it is also quite abrasive and tends to clog teeth quickly leading to premature failure. Alpha White Pointer outperformed all 6 competitors in this material.

19mm Turpentine Decking

Turpentine is a hard and abrasive timber and generally difficult to drill with a holesaw. The Alpha White Pointer outperformed all 6 other competitors in this material.
